Just 24 hours after the Olympics begin in Beijing, The Macbeth pub in London’s Shoreditch will play host to its very own sporting event.

While there won’t be as much pressure on the contestants, there will be plenty of friendly competition at the second annual Tranny Olympics on August 9th.

Last year’s event saw 70 drag king and queens sprinting down Hoxton Street, stopping the traffic as they raced for Olympic medals gold, silver, bronze, and glitter.

“This year is going to be bigger and better,” Ronan McNern, one of the night’s organisers, told PinkNews.co.uk.

“It’s all very DIY and the first time we were learning along the way.”

The night has no official sponsorship but is promoted by word of mouth, flyers, and the social networking site facebook.

“In a matter of weeks, 100 people said they were attending on our facebook page.

“It could be amazing or hell,” Ronan added.

This year promises more games, amongst them “Pin the cock on the Tranny” and “Tranny wet T-shirt competition.”

Entertainment comes in the form of a punk tranny band called Prolapse and DJ sets between the games from Princes Julia and Kat!.
