Ambulance Trust joins Stonewall workplace scheme
The South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Trust (SECAmb) is the latest organisation to join forces with Stonewall to improve workplace equality.
The Trust provides ambulance services in Sussex, Surrey and Kent.
The Diversity Champions programme, run by gay equality organisation Stonewall, promotes best practice and gives organisations guidance and advice on how to create equality in the workplace.
Last week the British Army joined the scheme, which numbers among its members the Royal Navy, the Royal Air Force, nearly all Whitehall departments, Barclays, IBM and many public sector bodies.
“Being accepted on to Stonewall’s Diversity Champion’s Programme really is an honour,” said Geraint Davis, chair of Pride in SECAmb, and director of corporate affairs for the Trust.
“It highlights SECAmb’s commitment to being a fully inclusive organisation.
“We want staff to not only take pride in the excellent work they do in caring for patients, but also to take pride in working for SECAmb.
“Through partnership with Stonewall, we will be able to build upon the firm foundations that have been put in place to promote greater equality and embrace diversity.”
More than 400 organisations, who collectively employ more than four million people, are members of Stonewall’s Diversity Champions programme.
SECAmb will be taking part in this year’s Brighton Pride on Saturday 2 August.
This will be the second year running that the Trust has participated in the parade as well as exhibited in Preston Park.
