He may be best-known as a leading voice in the Lesbian and Gay Christian Movement, but Reverend Richard Kirker will soon be swapping the good fight for the good life.

Rev Kirker steps down from the LGCM later this year.

“I really need to clear my head because this has been a totally preoccupying and absorbing existence,” he said, but he will not be retiring completely.

As the owner of two properties, one in Morocco and the other in France, he is hoping to help create memorable holidays through his new business venture, richardkirker.com.

“My properties are both designed to provide private chill-out space for up to four people,” he told PinkNews.co.uk.

“In their different ways they are oases of calm and beauty.”

Rev Kirker is offering a 30% launch discount on bookings for the rest of 2008 to PinkNews.co.uk readers.

He is full of praise for the exotic charms of Morocco.

“My authentic, ancient, restored riad is the ideal place to make your base, and just five minutes from one of the wonders of North Africa – the dazzling Jama El Efna Square,” he said.

“And all less than 15 minutes from the airport where you will be met by the alluring Abdellah.

“It only took one visit to Marrakesh to persuade me this amazingly vibrant city had just about everything you could possibly want; and a dozen trips later I am as entranced as ever, always discovering a new slant on the country’s rich heritage of music, art and architecture.

“The Moroccans know how to have fun and want visitors to relax.”

Rev Kirker’s other holiday property could hardly be more different, a villa in a rural French village “where the views from Les Noyers facing south towards the Pyrenees are spectacular.”

Close to the cities of Toulouse and Bordeaux, the property “offers a pace of life little altered for centuries in one of the quietest and least spoilt corners of France. The relaxing garden and nearby country walks complement each other ideally.”
