McCain displays his quick temper over links to Democrats

He may have won the Republican Party nomination for Presidential candidate but this week John McCain let his temper flair when questioned about a potential former move to represent the Democratic Party.

A New York Times reporter questioned McCain about conversations he had with 2004 Democrat nominee John Kerry about becoming a running mate which prompted a rather telling outburst.

On Friday during a QA with reporters, Times staffer Elisabeth Bumiller posed the question to McCain about his 2004 conversations with Kerry.

McCain quickly became agitated and cut the reporter off saying:

“Everybody knows that I had a private conversation. Everybody knows that. That I had a conversation.

“There’s no living American in Washington … and you know it too. You know it. No, you know it. You know it. So I don’t even know why you ask.”

The Senator has often been reported as having a “quick temper,” something that he himself has admitted to.

In 2000, Pam Johnson, the executive editor of the Arizona Republic newspaper, which had supported McCain for his five senate elections stated:

“A lot of the admirable qualities of Senator McCain have been widely reported nationally. A lot of the temperament issues have not.”

At the time, the Arizona Republic said it wanted the nation to know about the “volcanic” temper McCain has unleashed on several top state officials.

The paper reported that several Arizona officials including, Republican Governor Jane Hull, former Republican Governor Rose Mofford and former Democratic Mayor Paul Johnson of Phoenix had all been victims of his outbursts.

“There is also reason to seriously question whether he has the temperament, and the political approach and skills, we want in the next President of the United States,” Johnson included.

Fox News, which initially reported the incident, has since removed the video from its site, but MSNBC TV picked up the video as shown in this clip.
