Bournemouth’s celebration of equality and diversity will be held over three day in July, organisers have said.

Originally set up in 2004, Bourne Free has been extended across an entire weekend for the first time this year.

The seaside resort will be celebrating from Friday 11th until Sunday 13th of July.

Last year thousands of people turned out for the event.

The sun came out just in time for the nautical themed Beachfront Parade, which included lots of sexy sailors, colourful drag queens and even mermaids on electric wheelchairs.

Spectators along the promenade watched as local groups and a huge 30 metre rainbow flag travelled past to the sounds of classic camp pop.

A host of top cabaret performers entertained over 3,500 people in the Lower Gardens, including local favourite Miss Jason along with Lady James, Cosmic and Miss Hap.

Bournemouth Town Hall flew the Rainbow Flag for a second year to support the Bourne Free Pride Festival and the mayor of Bournemouth made a special appearance at the Live Show during the afternoon.

Organisers are asking for volunteers for Bourne Free 2008 and also want people who attended last year to visit www.bournefree.co.uk and complete a new online survey.
