A charitable institution established by a lesbian couple from Cornwall is offering a range of Valentine’s Day services with a unique twist.

The Kisses That Count website provides facilities for delivering ‘Kiss’ e-cards to someone you love, choosing from a wide range of animations or uploading your own photos, and including a loving message.

Each Kiss costs £1 and is a donation to one of the charity projects that the website features.

The sender also chooses which project they want their Kiss to support. If people do not want to send Kisses, then they can choose to donate directly to the charity project they want to support instead.

The not-for-profit organisation was founded by Heather and Chloe Wolsey-Ottaway, who had a civil partnership ceremony last summer.

Kisses That Count has already attracted support from high-profile individuals including Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Actor Kevin Bacon and Supermodel Iman, who all sent Kisses in support of the Ubuntu Education Fund in South Africa, one of the charities that KTC supports.

At the moment KTC has fourteen different charity projects to choose from, and each project is created in partnership with a charity already working in the local area.

They include creating an organic garden to help children in South Africa who are vulnerable or orphaned, planting trees at the Centre of Alternative Technology in Wales.

Other projects provide a water filtration kit to a Children’s Centre in Kenya and supply veterinary kits to support work with endangered species in Columbia and Cambodia.

Co-founder Chloe Wolsey-Ottaway said: “Let’s transform our passion, our friendships and our concerns into Kisses That Count and utilise them to change the world.

“The power of our combined love can literally create hope, choice and education, fight global warming and protect endangered habitats and species.”
