It seems that having an unconventional speaking voice continues to be no bar to gay lust.

After the squeaks of David Beckham, the nasal whine of Persil’s favourite footballer is music to the ears of gay fans.

A survey conducted by the Gay Football Supporters Network has revealed that Liverpool and England midfielder Steven Gerrard has topped their 2006 ‘Lust List.’

The Star newspaper, never one to be intimidated by a slow news day, have filled almost a page of their fine publication with this gay-related revelation, complete with a picture of Gerrard reclining on a sun lounger in a tight pair of shorts.

The news that Steven was voted number one by gay fans has been on the GFSN website since June.

“Gerrard’s dream of bringing back the World Cup from Germany may have fallen flat this summer,” said the paper.

“But that hasn’t dampened the enthusiasm of gay fans across the country, who say he is the Premiership prize they most want to get their hands on.”

Other top footie totty to make the list include Frank Lampard and bad-tempered Portugal and Man United winger Cristiano Ronaldo.

Gerrard and England team-mate Peter Crouch raised the hopes of some gay fans by making an impromptu appearance in January at Liverpool gay bar Garlands.

Gerrard gave the adoring crowd a karaoke rendition of Just Can’t Get Enough, apparently as part of a bet with Crouch.

Reporting on the Lust List has become an annual event for the red-top tabloids.

In recent years we have been treated to such delightful headlines as “Match Of The Gay” and “Rear We Go.”
