Sir Elton John has been known for his strange fashion sense, but no one could have predicted his latest outfit as he took to the stage of the Billy Elliot musical dressed in a tutu.

The gay star created the music for the award winning production and joined the cast on stage to celebrate the first year of the show.

He was accompanied by the three boys who had played the lead role, Liam Mower, who plays the current part and James Lomas and George Maguire, who left the show at Christmas after their voices broke.

Sir Elton told the audience at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London, “I couldn’t wear pink.

“I didn’t know that I was going to wear one. They just told me when I got here. There was no fitting, they just had it ready.”
