Tim Healy joins Coronation Street to play gay Sean’s dad

Comedy actor Tim Healy is set to go from bricklaying in Newcastle to walking the cobbles of Coronation Street.

The Auf Wiedersehen Pet star will play gay character, Sean Tully’s long lost father in the prime time soap.

According to the Sun, they will meet at a funeral, an insider told the paper, “Sean’s forced into making contact with his dad and it opens a whole can of worms. Brian doesn’t even know Sean is gay.”

Healy, 53, has signed up for seven episodes, said: “I am thrilled to be joining the cast of Coronation Street, I have already been in to meet Antony.

“I appeared on the show in 1976 as a bingo caller in a scene with Hilda Ogden, so to come back 30 years later is fantastic.”

His wife, Denise Welch, used to play Natalie Barnes in the show
