Brokeback Mountain is top internet search

Gay cowboy movie Brokeback Mountain is the most searched for film ahead of this weekend’s Oscars ceremony.

Ahead of the 78th Annual Academy Awards ceremony which takes place this Sunday, research reveals those films and actors the UK public have been searching on over the past few weeks.

Web analysts, Hitwise Search Intelligence revealed that the film has had the highest amount of hits since nominations fot the 78th Annual Academy Awards were announced in January.

However, Heath Ledger, one of the production’s stars, was only the second most searched for nominated actor after Joaquin Phoenix, for his role in Walk the Line.

Brokeback Mountain, directed by Ang Lee, is tipped for Oscar glory at the Hollywood ceremony on March 5, with eight nominations. Jake Gyllenhaal is nominated for best supporting actor, Heath Ledger,best actor and Ang Lee as best director. Michelle Williams was nominated for best supporting actress.

The film was also nominated for the prestigious best picture gong together with nominations for best adapted screenplay, best cinematography and best original score.
