12:40 PM — The man accused of murdering a gay Puerto Rico teenager has been found fit to stand trial. Juan A Martinez Matos, 26, is accused of killing Jorge Steven Lopez Mercado in November in the city of Cayey.
Supreme Court bans broadcasting of California gay marriage trial 13
12:05 PM — The Supreme Court ruled yesterday that a trial on the constitutionality of California's gay marriage ban cannot be broadcast on the internet. It said that supporters of the ban could face harassment and "irreparable harm".

Lesbian heiress Casey Johnson found dead 7
3:08 PM — The heiress to the Johnson & Johnson fortune has been found dead at her Los Angeles home. Casey Johnson, 30, had a history of drug abuse. Police said she appeared to have died from natural causes, although a cause of death has not been determined.
Court case on California marriage ban to be heard next week 8
1:11 PM — Next Monday, a federal court will examine for the first time whether the US constitution allows states to ban gay marriage. The case, brought by two gay couples who argue that California's ban violates their constitutional rights, will be heard on January 11th and is expected to last two to three weeks.
