5:25 PM — Lawmakers in the US state of Florida debated the ban on gay couples adopting for the first time in 33 years. Amendments were introduced in both the House and the Senate on Tuesday although both were withdrawn before a vote.
Gay participants excluded from some clinical trials 8
4:47 PM — Some clinical research trials are explicitly excluding gays and lesbians, a study has found. Research sponsored by the US National Institutes of Health, the US government and private companies found that 15 per cent of the trials were found to bar gay people.

Lesbian student sues over cancelled prom 9
6:53 PM — The American Civil Liberties Union has filed a lawsuit over a prom which was cancelled because of a lesbian student. Constance McMillen, an 18-year-old student at Itawamba Agricultural High School, was barred from attending the event in a tuxedo and with her girlfriend.
