11:37 AM — Gabrielle Giffords, the Arizona congresswoman shot in the head last month, has begun speaking again. The pro-gay politician was seriously injured when a gunman opened fire on a meeting in a shopping mall.

2:42 PM — Hawaii is moving closer towards civil unions for gay couples. A bill was approved by a legislative committee yesterday and will now go to the House soon for a full vote.
Wisconsin lesbian minister could be removed from clergy 7
1:34 PM — A lesbian minister in the US state of Wisconsin is to appear before a church trial. Rev Amy DeLong will face charges after she presided over a 2009 ceremony for a lesbian couple and registered her own relationship as a domestic partnership.
Cynthia Nixon’s partner gives birth 5
10:36 AM — Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon is a mother again after her partner Christine Marinoni gave birth yesterday. The couple did not announce that Marinoni was expecting but a spokesman confirmed that the baby boy was named Max Ellington Nixon-Marinoni.

Nebraska lesbians not allowed to divorce 7
5:02 PM — A lesbian couple in the US state of Nebraska have been barred from divorcing by a judge. Brenda Mueller and Deborah Pry were told that as Nebraska doesn't recognise gay marriage, it doesn't recognise gay divorce.
Seven-year-old donates to LA gay centre because he thinks inequality is unfair 40
12:55 AM — A seven-year-old has donated $140 to the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center and the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC) because he doesn't think it's right for gay people not to be treated equally. The child, called Malcolm, was given $140 by his parents to donate to the charity of his choice. He chose to split the money between the gay centre and the HRC.

5:24 PM — Transformers star Shia LaBeouf was arrested this weekend after allegedly being involved in a bar fight in California. According to reports, the fight broke out after fans called the actor a "faggot" for refusing to speak to them.

US lesbians win right to attend school event together 7
2:08 PM — A Minnesota lesbian couple have won the right to attend their school's royalty court event together. Desiree Shelton and Sarah Lindstrom, both 18, were elected to onto the royalty court but Champlin Park High School then announced a change in policy, saying that students would walk with a parent or favourite teacher.

5:31 PM — A politician in the US state of Utah has introduced a bill which gay groups fear could strip all recognition of gay couples.
Homophobia ‘can make you ill’, study says 17
4:48 PM — A study has found a link between homophobia and hormonal changes that can lead to illness. According to research from Montreal's Concordia University, people who had suffered homophobia had higher levels of stress hormone cortisol in their brains.

10:46 AM — Former megachurch pastor Ted Haggard says he would be bisexual if he was 21 and not a Christian. Speaking to GQ magazine, the disgraced preacher insisted he was happily married to wife Gayle and said he still believes that the Bible says homosexuality "is not God's best plan for people".

Iowa lawmakers move to ban gay marriage 23
3:41 PM — Iowa's House has approved a measure that seeks to ban gay marriage in the state. The state legalised marriage for couples in 2009 after Supreme Court judges said a ban violated the constitution.

10:51 AM — US television show Saturday Night Live has been attacked for including a skit which mocked transgender women. The piece, a mock advertisement for hormone pills, was "destructive and dehumanising", the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation said.

Six trans women killed in Honduras in two months 7
5:57 PM — LGBT campaigners are calling on Honduran authorities to fully investigate the murders of six transgender women in just 60 days. According to Human Rights Watch, the first death was on November 29th and the latest took place on January 17th.

3:18 PM — Former US president George Bush's daughter has joined his wife in declaring her support for marriage equality. Laura Bush announced last year that she supports same-sex marriage and believes abortion should remain legal.
