2:12 PM — A Tennessee student claims his principal assaulted him for wearing a t-shirt in support of a school gay-straight alliance. Chris Sigler, 17, a student at Sequoyah High School, wore a home-made shirt which read 'GSA: We've got your back' last Tuesday.

12:26 PM — US TV series 90210 is to have a gay wedding. Teddy (Trevor Donovan) will marry boyfriend Shane (Ryan Rottman) in an episode to be screened in November.
New medical rules for US transgender inmates
11:27 AM — The US Bureau of Prisons has adopted new rules for the care of transgender inmates. Previously, prisoners would be permitted to continue with treatments such as hormone therapy if they began them before being incarcerated. However, they would not be permitted to start such treatments inside.
Conflict over ‘gay cure’ study 143
10:17 AM — Two professors from American religious universities claim they have evidence to show that sexual orientation can be changed. Mark Yarhouse of Regent University and Stanton Jones at Wheaton College say that almost a quarter of the people they studied were able to become straight.

2:14 PM — An American study says that openly gay men are less likely to be called back for job interviews - particularly in the South and Midwest. The research found that CVs which indicate an applicant is gay are 40 per cent less likely to be granted an interview than those which do not.

12:00 PM — A classmate of New York schoolboy Jamey Rodemeyer has been suspended for chanting that the bullied gay teenager was "better off dead". The student made the taunts at a Williamsville North High School dance attended by Jamey's sister.

4:01 PM — The Pentagon has ruled that military chaplains may perform same-sex marriage ceremonies on or off military bases. The change comes ten days after the formal repeal of the ban on openly gay troops.

10:31 AM — A US federal court has dismissed a ruling which struck down the ban on openly gay troops as unconstitutional. The law was formally repealed last week but some gay rights campaigners said it could be revived in future if further action is not taken.

US census shows 131,297 gay marriages 7
4:12 PM — The US census shows that there are 131,297 gay married households and 514,735 unmarried gay households. Marriage equality campaigners said the figures show the need for gay couples to be given the right to wed.
