11:12 PM — American gay rights campaigner Frank Kameny has had an asteroid named after him. The activist, who died last October aged 86, was sacked from his government job as an astronomer in 1957 for being gay. He later became one of the leading lights of the US gay rights movement.

New York: Court rejects marriage equality challenge 11
11:34 PM — A New York court has dismissed an evangelical group's challenge to the city's marriage equality laws. New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms claimed the state Senate acted illegally when it voted to approve a gay marriage bill last year.
Leader of ‘reparative therapy’ group Exodus says gays can’t be cured 33
11:00 PM — The leader of global 'gay cure' church Exodus International has declared that gays cannot be turned straight and that so-called 'reparative therapy' may be dangerous. Exodus president Alan Chambers is said to have shocked the 'ex-gay' movement with his volte-face and is facing accusations of heresy.
US: Presbyterian Church narrowly rejects marriage equality 4
10:28 PM — The US Presbyterian Church has rejected a motion to open up marriage to gay couples. After four hours of debate on Friday, delegates at the biennial Church Assembly in Pittsburgh voted 338-308 to reject the proposals.

11:55 PM — Two gay men in Dallas, Texas, have been arrested after they refused to leave a county clerk's office. The pair, named as Mark Jiminez and Beau Chandler, were protesting the state's ban on marriage equality.
Virginia: Gym backtracks on gay family membership ban 10
8:55 PM — A Virginia gym has lifted its ban on gay family memberships after telling a gay couple their membership was being revoked. Roanoke Athletic Club told William Trinkle in May that he, his male partner and their two-year-old son were not considered a family under Virginia law and that their membership was being cancelled.
