11:04 AM — Around this time last year, the Presbyterian Church of Wales made national news after paying out a record sum to a gay employee who had endured ‘grotesquely’ discriminatory conduct and sexual harassment. You might reasonably assume, then, that they’d watch their step when it comes to the ever-so-touchy subject of homosexuality. You would, of course, be wrong to make such an assumption.

11:50 AM — Chris Bryant, the openly gay Labour MP for Rhondda, has said the reason he 'flipped' his second home was to escape homophobic thugs who daubed lewd messages on his main constituency property.

Trans woman joins Welsh police force to tackle transphobia 1
5:12 PM — A Welsh police force has taken on a trans woman to help train officers about hate crimes. Michelle Douglas contacted Dyfed Powys Police last year to ask if she could help educate officers about transphobia.

HIV patients ‘still facing discrimination’ in Wales
4:05 PM — A sexual health doctor in Wales has claimed that some patients with HIV are still victims of prejudice and are being denied treatment by GPs for everyday illnesses.

Wales sees gay hate convictions rise 11
6:14 PM — Gay hate crime convictions in Wales have doubled in the last three years, figures from the Crown Prosecution Service show. Statistics show there were 58 successful prosecutions last year compared with 29 in 2006.

11:59 PM — The government has defeated an amendment in the House of Commons that would have created a defence of "free speech" in a bill that is designed to criminalise incitement of hatred in relation to sexual orientation.
Gays and lesbians face ‘double stigma’ over mental health 6
6:05 PM — Gay, lesbian and bisexual people in Wales face a double prejudice in terms of mental health, a survey has suggested. The report, from Stonewall Cymru, states that mental health provision in Wales is "under-resourced and ill-equipped" to cope with LGB mental health issues.

Man avoids jail for homophobic threats 22
1:47 PM — A man who smashed the door of a gay couple and threatened to kill them has escaped jail. Nathan Dally, 22, shouted: "I'm going to kill you, you faggots" as he kicked down the door of Daniel Smith and Gary Samuel's house in Rhondda, south Wales, as they slept.
