    10:34 AM — A large majority of Scottish people now support marriage equality. According to the 2010 Scottish Social Attitudes Survey, published yesterday, 61 per cent of people believe gays and lesbians should have the right to marry.

    5:28 PM — A Ugandan man serving a four-year sentence for raping a woman is reportedly seeking asylum by claiming he is gay. John Ssewagudde, 21, was convicted of raping the woman in Glasgow last June after he admitted the attack on her Facebook page.

    9:39 AM — The Cabinet Office has refused to give out information on the knighthood bestowed on Stagecoach co-founder and Section 28 campaigner Brian Souter. Mr Souter, who gave £1 million to a 2000 campaign to uphold Section 28, was honoured with a knighthood last month.

Tom MacMaster, a 40-year-old US student at the University of Edinburgh, admitted last night that he was 'Amina Arraf' but said the hoax had not harmed anyone.

    11:27 AM — Brian Souter, the Stagecoach co-founder who gave £1 million to a 2000 campaign to uphold Section 28, has been honoured with a knighthood. The 57-year-old businessman has not spoken out against gay rights in 11 years but almost 2,500 people have signed a petition calling for the honour to be rescinded.
