RAF sign up with Stonewall
1:59 PM — The Royal Air Force has become the second of the Armed Forces to join the Stonewall Diversity Programme.The Royal Navy is already a member of the scheme, which is designed to help organisations and businesses recruit and retain LGBT staff and promote equality in the workplace.Stonewall chief executive Ben Summerskill described the decision as"courageous."

10:30 AM — 2007 looks set to be another turbulent year in the Anglican church, with reports that more than 50 gay and lesbian priests have entered into civil partnerships since December 2005 likely to re-ignite debate over homosexuality.The General Synod of the Church of England will hold the first of its twice-yearly meetings in February. Evangelicals will press for an open debate on the issue of homosexual clergy, Christian Today reports.

Anti-discrimination rules come into force in N Ireland 1
9:18 AM — New regulations that outlaw discrimination in the provision of goods and services on the grounds of sexual orientation came into force in Northern Ireland yesterday.The province is the first part of the UK to introduce new protections for the LGBT community.The measures were controversial, with churches on both sides of the religious divide arguing that the regulations will discriminate against people with religious views.
George Michael charged by police 2
9:18 AM — Troubled pop icon George Michael has been formally charged following an incident last year when he was found by police in his car in Cricklewood, north London, allegedly passed out.Members of the public had called the police in the early hours of October 1st to deal with a Mercedes Benz S-Class car which was obstructing traffic lights.Michael was found at the wheel semi-conscious, taken to hospital and then arrested for suspected possession of drugs.

12:00 AM — An NHS Trust is to cut funding to gender transition as part of a move to limit non-essential operations in the area.Hounslow Primary Care Trust has announced that from April 2007, anyone seeking NHS support for medical services such as gender reassignment, tattoo removal, or breast enhancements will have to pay for it.

To me Section 28 sounded more like a military base than an example of discrimination and intolerance, however, it did not take long for me to realise that the gay community's plight is not just about getting society to realise that it is ok to sleep with a person of the same sex, but rather just because a person falls in love with a person of the same sex, that does not give others the right to discriminate against them.

12:00 AM — A UK company has launched a new HIV testing service, but AIDS charities have warned customers that they are not as reliable as going to a clinic.For £25, DrThom will analyse a sample of saliva for HIV antibodies. Customers take the sample themselves and sent it through the post to the company's laboratory.If antibodies, which indicate the presence of the HIV virus, are present the customer is contacted by phone.

Mystery gay reveller emerges in Barrymore pool death case 1
12:00 AM — A new name has emerged as the possible key to what went on at gay star Michael Barrymore's home after an inquiry into the death of Stuart Lubbock was reopened.Lubbock, 31, was found dead in the swimming pool of the openly gay television personality in March 2001 after a drug fuelled party.During the inquest that followed, an open verdict was reached and to date no-one has been charged in connection with Mr Lubbock's death.
Lib Dem site offers gay dating
12:00 AM — Welsh Liberal Democrats have narrowly avoided yet another political sex scandal after the Swansea party's website began linking to gay dating sites and porn.Visitors to the website were expecting information about councillors and events but immediately complained to the Ombudsman after instead being offered "casual dating and sex."
