Brighton Conservatives’ “shallow” gay pride pledge 14
12:00 AM — A motion by the local Brighton and Hove Conservative Party to fly a rainbow flag from council buildings has been met with scepticism in the local authority.The proposal comes as suspended Tory councillor, Peter Willows, a Hangleton and Knoll ward councillor, is currently being investigated by police over alleged comments labelling gay people as paedophiles, and opposing flying the rainbow flag, a symbol of the gay community, asking "why should any country have to fly a flag because of men sleeping together to have sex?"
Archbishop clarifies gay row proposal
12:00 AM — The Archbishop of Canterbury has criticised reports of a proposal to divide the Anglican Church.Dr Rowan Williams used his address to the Church of England's national assembly, the General Synod, to call interpretations of the idea of "associated" and "covenant" congregations "nonsense."

Gay couple found guilty of child abuse
12:00 AM — Reading Crown Court yesterday found a gay couple guilty of the sexual abuse of a young child.Alan Howitt, 38, a former soldier had admitted to eleven charges of indecent assault. His lover, 33 year old James Rae, a mannequin dresser in Marks and Spencer, had denied any involvement in the abuse of the child.
Police appeal for information on missing man
12:00 AM — Police are appealing for anyone who can help them locate a 44-year-old man who has been reported missing from his home in Wembley by his partner.Gustavo William-Coleman was last seen 12.30 on Monday 10 July 2006 inChalkhill Road, Wembley, when he left his home. He has not been seen since.He is described as having a mental age of 11 and suffers from asthma.
Police officers resign after lesbian abuse
12:00 AM — Six police officers who called a former drug addict a lesbian have resigned from Lincolnshire police force.Mark Connolly, 36, and Simon Alderson, 35, Matthew Dossett, 30, Ryan Duffy, 22, Jody Senior, 27, and Neill Webster, 23, were found guilty of disorderly conduct at Gainsborough Magistrates' Court. They then lost an appeal at Nottingham Crown Court.

12:00 AM — Gay women working in the city are three times less likely then gay man to come out, a new survey claims.The recruitment firm The Blomfield Group conducted the survey, which suggests that although the City of London had improved, it was still a challenging place for gay people to work in, especially gay women.

UK’s first gay prom to be held in London
12:00 AM — Gay Prom UK will hit London next weekend for an evening of dressing up and getting down on the dance floor for gay 16 - 19 year olds.Based on successful events run in Boston, San Francisco and Los Angeles, the organisers hope to send a positive message to gay teens struggling to come to terms with their sexuality that it's perfectly normal to be gay.
