Ken steals Boris’s Mayor Fund idea 7
2:20 PM — A new fund proposed by Boris Johnson designed to encourage the City to donate money to community projects could be used to help pay for a gay and lesbian museum in London, Ken Livingstone has proposed. He was speaking at a hustings for candidates for Mayor of London organised by gay equality organisation Stonewall.

5:14 PM — Peter Robinson will be the next leader of the Democratic Unionist party and Northern Ireland's next First Minister, it was confirmed last night. A meeting of the 120 members of party's executive committee backed the Belfast East MP.

1:22 PM — New guidance has been issued to the National Health Service by Wales' Health Minister. Edwina Hart said that the Assembly government had produced the guidance in partnership with Stonewall Cymru.

12:12 PM — Gay and lesbian people and their friends have been signing up for a major gay day out in Brighton during the May bank holiday. The 5th Annual Equality Walk is a demonstration of solidarity against hate crime.

11:08 AM — Transsexual people on the Isle of Man will have their new gender recognised by law under draft legislation. A person who has had a sex change operation and has a full gender recognition certificate will have their new status legally recognised.

10:46 AM — The Liberal Democrat candidate for Mayor of London is to 'tie the knot' with his boyfriend. Brian Paddick told the Pink Paper of his civil partnership plans in an interview published yesterday.

4:41 PM — The trial of two men accused of trying to blackmail a member of the Royal family has heard evidence from the victim’s aide. The woman, known as Witness B, told the court that she received several phone calls over the summer, the first in August, about her employer.

Royal took drugs, court told
4:08 AM — The Old Bailey was told yesterday that the Royal at the centre of a gay sex blackmail plot took drugs. The court also heard a comparision to a Royal aide and the BBC Are You Being Served character Mr Humphries. The Royal can't be named due to a court order.

6:10 PM — The Mayor of London will be taking to the streets of Soho this evening to try to drum up votes among the city's lesbian and gay community.Ken Livingstone said he has been "at the forefront" of promoting LGBT rights.
Harriet Harman will not face police probe over donations
4:50 PM — Secretary of State for Equality Harriet Harman will not be referred to the police for her late declaration of donations to her campaign for Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, the Electoral Commission has announced.She won the Labour deputy leadership in June 2007 and was made Secretary of State for Equality, chair of the Labour party and Leader of the House.Two donations totalling just over £6,000 and loans of £58,000 were reported to the commission late.
MSPs ask for more information on gay blood ban 18
4:20 PM — A committee of the Scottish parliament is to ask the country's government and various blood and tissue donation organisations to explain why men who have sex with men are barred from donating.The petitions committee met yesterday afternoon at Holyrood to consider a submission from Mr Rob McDowall calling on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Government to review existing guidelines and risk assessment procedures to allow healthy gay and bisexual men to donate blood.
Male eggs and female sperm “science fiction” says report 4
3:50 PM — An international panel of scientists has said that while technology that will allow human egg and sperm cells to be grown from stem cells could be here in five years, the prospects of gay and lesbian couples having children that are genetically theirs are slim.The report from the Hinxton group of stem cell researchers said that because women have two copies of the X chromosome but men have one X and one Y, there are no circumstances they can forsee an entirely same-sex baby.
