Police ‘concern’ over gay murders and rise in homophobic hate crimes 32
11:01 AM — Police have expressed concern over a rise in homophobic violence following a number of murders of gay men. Scotland Yard statistics show a nine per cent rise in homophobic and transphobic offences to 1,372 in the year up to April. Greater Manchester police saw a 63 per cent rise in homophobic crime.
Gay asylum seeker John Bosco Nyombi wins right to stay in UK 35
10:38 AM — Ugandan gay asylum seeker John Bosco Nyombi has finally won asylum in the UK after an eight-year campaign. A High Court judge ruled that his removal had been "manifestly unlawful" as he had been forcibly deported while his case was still under review. He will now seek damages from the government.

New character Syed Masood, a Muslim property developer who has a girlfriend, is to fall for openly gay Christian Clarke. But the Muslim Public Affairs Committee say that the BBC should have a "normal friendly Muslim character."

4:07 PM — Tory leader David Cameron has been voted the worst politician of the year. Cameron, who reportedly plans to prioritise outreach to gay groups, topped the poll of bad politicians in the Gay Times Readers' Awards.

4:45 PM — TransLondon, the largest group in the capital for all trans-identified people, has announced it is boycotting London Pride. The decision comes after trans women were denied access to female toilets at last year's Pride and one was allegedly sexually assaulted.
