Man acquitted of assault over reaction to gay bar ‘bottom touch’ 145
11:03 AM — A straight Derry man has been acquitted of assault after brushing off a man who touched his bottom in a gay bar. A judge said that Christopher Brendan Thompson had been "establishing his straight credentials" when he pushed his face into the face of the man who touched him.

12:19 PM — A PinkNews.co.uk poll suggests that the UK's LGBT community will back the alternative vote system in Thursday's referendum. The results also showed a massive drop in support for the Liberal Democrats.

Northern Ireland school is first to form gay-straight alliance 25
9:44 AM — A school in Northern Ireland is the first in the country to form a student gay-straight alliance. Teachers at Shimna Integrated College in Newcastle, County Down, hope the initiative will help tackle anti-gay bullying.

Homophobia widespread in Northern Ireland workplaces 61
5:36 PM — Homophobia is endemic in Northern Ireland workplaces, a report from a gay rights organisation says. According to the Rainbow Project, more than a quarter of lesbian, gay and bisexual people have complained about homophobia at work but 70 per cent of these were not happy with how the issue was dealt with.

Judge overturns ban on homophobic church ad 412
11:40 AM — A judge has overturned an Advertising Standards Authority ban on a church advert which railed against gay sex. The ad, by the Sandown Free Presbyterian Church in Belfast, was published in 2008 and was called 'The word of God against sodomy'.

Door staff attacked with knuckle-duster at Belfast gay club
1:37 PM — Three door staff at a Belfast gay club were taken to hospital yesterday after being attacked with a weapon believed to be a knuckle-duster. The staff - two women and one man - were treated for non-life-threatening head or facial injuries.

Religious protests permitted at Belfast Pride 7
11:33 AM — Belfast's Parades Commission has said that no restrictions will be placed on protests against the city's Pride march. The event, expected to attract up to 15,000 people, will be held on Saturday July 31st and is targeted every year by anti-gay demonstrators from Sandown Free Presbyterian Church.
