12:30 PM — The British Film Institute's annual Lesbian and Gay Film Festival opened last night in central London. The event, which is celebrating its 24th year, opened with a screening of new British film The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister at the Odeon West End.

10:37 PM — BBC television presenter Kristian Digby has been found dead. Digby, 32, was reportedly found dead at his home in Newham, east London, on Monday morning.

7:20 PM — A Muslim cleric who has called Jews "filth" and gay people "sick" has been invited to speak at a London university tonight (Thursday). Sheikh Abdullah Hakim Quick will be speaking at the Strand campus of Kings College tonight on "Islamic solutions to environmental problems", as part of the university's green week.

Man pleads not guilty to murder of trans woman
4:25 PM — A man has denied murdering trans woman Destiny Lauren. Leo Fyle, 21, of Laleham Road, Catford, appeared via videolink at the Old Bailey today to plead not guilty to Ms Lauren's murder on November 5th 2009.
Queer theory professor killed in cycle accident 8
4:18 PM — A professor in Spanish and queer theory has been named as the cyclist who was killed in a collision in London earlier this month. David Vilaseca died on February 9th when his bicyle collided with a lorry.

3:31 PM — One of London's oldest LGBT charities may have to cut its services after being hit with a 21 per cent rent increase. London Friend, founded in 1972, offers counselling and support to lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people and receives little state support.

Protestors will tell Pope to ‘snog off’ 39
5:36 PM — A 'kiss-in' will be held as part of Sunday's Valentine's Day protest against the Pope's visit to the UK. Demonstrators plan to march from London's Westminster Cathedral to the Italian embassy in Grosvenor Square and those willing are being asked to take five minutes to publicly show their love for their partners.

11:05 AM — The UK's only bookshop catering exclusively for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people has been hit by a 25 per cent rent increase. The manager of London-based Gay's The Word, Jim MacSweeney, said he was "appalled" by Camden council's decision.

Illegal cab driver jailed for sex attacks on gay men 4
4:45 PM — A Deptford man who posed as a taxi driver has been jailed for ten years for raping one man and sexually assaulting another. Mohamad Caid, 38, was convicted last month of rape, attempted rape, sexual assault and two charges of false imprisonment. He was told he would serve at least five years.

7:10 PM — Popbarz, the gay club owner which went into administration this week, has thanked former staff, promoters and performers. Owner Tommy Moss said it was hoped a new Ghetto venue could be opened in 2010.
