London Borough of Camden has new gay mayor and mayoress 8
2:52 PM — Councillor Jonathan Simpson, Camden borough's first openly gay mayor, was last night confirmed in his role at a ceremony in Camden Town Hall. In his new position, Councillor Simpson pledged to retain the "rock 'n' roll" spirit of Camden, a major landmark on Britain's musical map.

Queen discusses Pope’s controversial visit in coalition speech 20
2:57 PM — In her speech today, the Queen outlined the Pope's planned religious activities for his state visit in September. His visit will be the first Papal one ever in the UK, that of Pope John Paul II in 1982 being a papal one. Britain's welcoming of the Pope has not gone down well with the LGBT population.

Jury retires over death of gay man in Trafalgar Square
2:46 PM — The jury in the case of three teenagers accused of killing a gay man in Trafalgar Square has retired to consider its verdict. Ian Baynham, 62, of Beckenham, Kent, died last October of head injuries after he was attacked while on a night out in London.
