Life sentence for man who killed gay pensioner 10
1:13 PM — A Polish man found guilty of murdering a 79-year-old gay man has been jailed for a minimum of 23 years. Marcin Orlowski, 21 and of no fixed address, was found guilty yesterday of the murder of Edward 'Teddy' Highwood, at the pensioner's Greenwich home.

5:19 PM — A 21-year-old man has been found guilty of murdering a 79-year-old gay man in his south London home. Marcin Orlowski, of no fixed address, denied killing Edward 'Teddy' Highwood on July 17th last year in the pensioner's Greenwich home.

2:04 AM — A London pub has been reported to the police following an alleged homophobic comment made by its manager to the Labour Party's LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans) group. The comments have sparked widespread condemnation by senior labour figures including leadership candidate Ed Balls and Sarah Brown, the wife of former prime minister Gordon Brown and former deputy prime minister John Prescott.

9:42 PM — Former London mayor Ken Livingstone has accused his successor Boris Johnson of "snubbing" gay Londoners by scrapping the annual London Pride mayoral reception. He promised he would reinstate the receptions if re-elected in 2012.

Queen discusses Pope’s controversial visit in coalition speech 20
2:57 PM — In her speech today, the Queen outlined the Pope's planned religious activities for his state visit in September. His visit will be the first Papal one ever in the UK, that of Pope John Paul II in 1982 being a papal one. Britain's welcoming of the Pope has not gone down well with the LGBT population.

Jury retires over death of gay man in Trafalgar Square
2:46 PM — The jury in the case of three teenagers accused of killing a gay man in Trafalgar Square has retired to consider its verdict. Ian Baynham, 62, of Beckenham, Kent, died last October of head injuries after he was attacked while on a night out in London.
