2:03 AM — An audience of around 200 almost exclusively gay men attended the Village Drinks LGB election hustings hosted by Stonewall chief executive Ben Summerskill. A panel representing the four largest political parties in Britain consisted of the openly gay Europe minister Chris Bryant; Liberal Democrat Young people and Equality spokesperson Lynne Featherstone; Conservative shadow environment secretary Nick Herbet and Green Party candidate Chris Smith.

4:54 PM — A ten-year-old boy has been placed on a hate register for calling a fellow pupil a "gay boy". It is one of the first publicised examples of how the government’s required hate registers are being used in schools. From this September, children as young as five risk being placed on a hate register if they make homophobic playground taunts.

11:40 AM — A man has gone on trial for "execution-style" murder of a Bradford gay man and the attempted murder of his partner. Newcastle crown court heard yesterday that Ernest Wright, 68, took a sawn-off shotgun to the home of Neville Corby, 42, and Craig Freear, 31, last March.

11:43 PM — A British broadcaster has admitted the mercy killing of his same sex partner in a programme broadcast this evening by the BBC. Nottingham based film maker Ray Gosling, 70, told the BBC's 'Inside Out: East Midlands': "I killed someone once... He'd been my lover and he got Aids."

Women hurt in homophobic attack in Plymouth 6

Brighton clinic starts to offer faster HIV tests 1
5:29 PM — Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) in Brighton & Hove has begun to offer a new type of rapid result HIV test at its clinic which can detect the virus just four weeks after the date of infection. Previous tests were only reliable three months after exposure to the virus.
