Man raped by taxi driver in Salford 12
11:00 AM — A 20-year-old man was raped by a taxi driver in Salford at around 6am on Sunday morning. The man had been out in the city centre when he got into a silver VW Passatt private hire car, with a taxi sign roof light, on Quay Street near the junction with Water Street.

Gay actor Alan Cumming receives OBE in Queen’s birthday honours 6
12:32 PM — Scottish actor and gay rights campaigner Alan Cumming has received an OBE in the annual Queen's birthday honours list. Cumming, who now lives in New York, used his honour to highlight the "inaction" of the US government on gay rights.

UKIP candidate compared homosexuality to paedophila 72
2:13 PM — The UKIP candiate for next month's by-election in Hove's Goldsmid ward was suspended from his job after comparing gays to paedophiles in 2007. Mike Mendoza, a presenter on talk radio station Talksport, was suspended for a week over his outburst.
