Funding secures future of Brighton Pride 6
6:26 PM — A £20,000 loan from Brighton and Hove city council has secured the future of the struggling Brighton Pride festival. The festival announced a £50,000 deficit last year and was forced to cancel its winter event.

Gay man avoids jail for trying to poison lesbian couple 5
7:22 PM — A gay man who tried to poison his neighbours in a row over a cat avoided jail yesterday. Gareth Stewart, of Denton, Manchester, gave Marie Walton and Beverley Sales a curry laced with slug pellets after a feud which started years ago.

4:35 PM — The only gay bar in Canterbury, a city which was condemned by a local Pride group for not being gay enough, has closed. O2 was opened six months ago on King Street but is closing because of a lack of business.

Women hurt in homophobic attack in Plymouth 6
11:55 AM — Two young women were injured in Plymouth when they were attacked outside a bar. The pair, one in her teens and one in her early 20s, told police they were attacked by a group of men outside Goodbody's cafe and bar at around 3.15am on Monday morning.

Brighton clinic starts to offer faster HIV tests 1
5:29 PM — Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) in Brighton & Hove has begun to offer a new type of rapid result HIV test at its clinic which can detect the virus just four weeks after the date of infection. Previous tests were only reliable three months after exposure to the virus.

7:11 PM — A man who made his neighbours' lives hell has been served with a 56-day eviction notice. Richard Leonard, 57, of Baldmoor Lake Road, Erdington, had been accused of waging a homophobic and anti-social hate campaign against his neighbours since May.

Straight civil partnership couple’s MP to raise issue in parliament 41
