    9:28 AM — Zachary Quinto, the star of Heroes and 2009's Star Trek, has revealed he is gay. The 34-year-old has refused to discuss his sexuality until now, although he joined other celebrities in making an 'It Gets Better' video.

    5:04 PM — Work will begin on Spain's first gay and lesbian retirement home in the coming weeks. The December 26th Foundation in Madrid is named after the 1979 date when General Franco's anti-gay law was repealed.

Dr Hans-Christian Raabe claimed he had been "sacrificed on the altar of political correctness" but the Home Office said he had been fired because he failed to mention the controversial work in interviews.

    4:03 PM — A gay man has been awarded more than £13,000 in compensation after a tribunal found he had been bullied at work for his sexuality. Steven Bain said his colleagues at The Lighthouse in Glasgow, an architecture and design centre, asked him if he found the words "poof" and "queer" offensive and whether he had ever dressed as a woman.

    12:43 PM — A Bristol Tory councillor who criticised gay actor Ian McKellen’s visits to schools has been suspended by his party. Chris Windows, who represents Henbury ward, has agreed to be "voluntarily suspended", the Conservative Party said.
