London anti-hate crime charity opens drop-in service 2
4:10 PM — London charity Galop is offering a new drop-in service for LGBT people affected by hate crime, discrimination and domestic abuse. The service will also offer LGBT people the chance to talk to a sexual abuse caseworker in confidence about incidents, whether recent or from childhood.

11:12 AM — A story published in the Bristol Evening Post yesterday, of how a trans woman who had been dealing drugs avoided jail because this would interfere with her transition, is bad news for the rule of law, and bad news for the trans community everywhere.

Texas gay couple marry by Skype 3
1:04 PM — A gay couple have circumvented Texas' ban on gay marriage by marrying over Skype. Mark Reed and Dante Walkup used the internet software to link to Washington DC, where a registrar conducted the ceremony.

Gay arts festival GFEST begins today 1
6:35 PM — London's only LGBT arts festival begins today. GFEST will run for two weeks and features dozens of short films, exhibitions and performances by a range of artists.

12:29 PM — Nick Herbert, the shadow environment secretary, has said the Conservative party has seen a "definite change" in its attitudes to gay people. He said the Tories had to be "properly representative" of the whole country.

Ugandan President threatens to reject homophobic bill 28
3:00 PM — The President of Uganda has threatened to veto the a controversial new bill that could see homosexuals sentenced to the death penalty or lifetime imprisonment. US newspaper DC Agenda claims that President Yoweri Museveni pledged to US secretary of state for African affairs Jonnie Carson on two separate occasions that he would reject the bill currently making its way through parliament.

3:15 PM — A man has been found guilty of murdering one man and attempting to murder his partner in a homophobic attack. David Kilcullen, 46, had pleaded not guilty to the attack in March in south London.
