Trans Media Watch said that the sketch, based on the story of a Thai airline hiring trans women, shows trans people as "objects of ridicule [and] physical disgust."

The 59-year-old patient, known as C, challenged a decision by West Berkshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) not to provide the money but the Court of Appeal ruled today that the PCT was entitled to make the refusal.

    4:11 PM — A Scottish woman has been accused of tricking two women into sex by pretending to be a man. Samantha Brooks, 26, of Perthshire, is said to have posed as a man called Lee Brooks for nine years and hidden her genitals by claiming she had testicular cancer.

    8:14 PM — An NHS trust has been criticised for temporarily stopping treatment referrals for transgender people. NHS West Kent is also ceasing referrals for gastric band surgery and couples seeking IVF but trans campaigners say people with these conditions do not have a high suicide rate, unlike trans people waiting for treatment.

    2:03 PM — A new survey of more than 7,000 trans people in the US says that 41 per cent have tried to kill themselves. The research, carried out by the National Center for Transgender Equality and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, also found than 19 per cent had been refused medical care because of their trans status.

    3:11 PM — Victoria Kolakowski has become the first trans person to be elected as a trial judge in the US. She was elected as a superior court judge in Alameda County, California, beating deputy district attorney John Creighton with 51 to 48 per cent of the vote.

    1:52 PM — A Washington student has become the first transgender person to play NCAA basketball. Kye Allums, 21, of George Washington University, is returning to the women's team this month, although he is now known as a man.
