    3:40 PM — The national transgender festival, Sparkle, has begun in Manchester. The festival, now in its seventh year, is the biggest event on the trans calendar and is billed as a "celebration of gender diversity".

    12:56 PM — A transgender woman in Surrey has described how staff at a Sainsbury's supermarket told her to use the disabled toilets instead of the women's facility. Stephanie Collins, 55, said she used the women's toilets but as she came out, a staff member stopped her and told her she should not have done.

    4:30 PM — A transgender woman in Virginia was attacked by a mob outside a store last Saturday afternoon. The assault follows the beating of a Maryland trans woman in a McDonald's restaurant, which was filmed by a member of staff.

    2:35 PM — A judge in Texas is expected to declare a trans widow's marriage void after her husband's family launched a legal challenge. The ruling will mean that widow Nikki Araguz, who lost her firefighter husband in a blaze, will not be entitled to survivor benefits.

    1:50 PM — A Toronto couple have revealed that they are raising their third child as 'genderless' in order to allow the baby to decide on its own gender. Kathy Witterick and David Stocker, who already have two sons aged five and two, say four-month-old Storm should be allowed to decide his/her gender when he/she grows up.

Trans Media Watch said that the sketch, based on the story of a Thai airline hiring trans women, shows trans people as "objects of ridicule [and] physical disgust."

The 59-year-old patient, known as C, challenged a decision by West Berkshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) not to provide the money but the Court of Appeal ruled today that the PCT was entitled to make the refusal.

    4:11 PM — A Scottish woman has been accused of tricking two women into sex by pretending to be a man. Samantha Brooks, 26, of Perthshire, is said to have posed as a man called Lee Brooks for nine years and hidden her genitals by claiming she had testicular cancer.
