    Trans groups say that trans people are permitted to use whichever toilets they prefer

    3:22 PM — A trans woman in Houston, Texas, has been arrested after using a female toilet in a library. Tyjanae Moore was arrested by police last Wednesday for "knowingly entering a restroom of the opposite sex" but trans groups say her arrest was unlawful.

    10:23 AM — Around 5,000 children at Islamic weekend schools are being taught homophobic and anti-semitic views, it has been claimed. According to a BBC Panorama investigation to be screened tonight, the Sharia law classes use textbooks which tell children that the penalty for gay sex is execution, that "Zionists" are plotting to take over the world for the Jews and the correct way to cut off the hands and feet of convicted thieves.

The broadcaster found himself in a storm of media attention after telling Attitude magazine that women only have sex because it is "the price they are willing to pay for a relationship".

    3:22 PM — Two US students accused of invading the privacy of a friend who committed suicide say they did not broadcast his gay sex session online. Dharun Ravi of Plainsboro, New Jersey, and Molly W Wei of Princeton, both 18, were accused of secretly recording Mr Ravi's roommate Tyler Clementi having sex with a man.

    8:35 PM — Actor, author and broadcaster Stephen Fry has used his Twitter account to condemn The Observer newspaper for portraying him as "the antichrist" in relation to comments he made to the gay magazine Attitude. In an interview, Fry is reported to have said he feels sorry for straight men because women only want sex in order to have a relationship.

    5:32 PM — A study of sexually-active American teenagers says that almost one in ten has same-sex partners. In 2002, a similar study of teenagers in Vermont and Massachusetts found that only five to six per cent had same-sex partners.

    7:27 PM — A man convicted of murdering trans woman Andrea Waddell has been found guilty of raping another woman. Neil MacMillan, 41, of Brighton, was found guilty today of raping the woman in her twenties five weeks before he strangled Ms Waddell, a sex worker.
