3:52 PM — A straight couple who were barred from having a civil partnership say they will fight the ban in court. Ian Goggin and Kristin Skarsholt, of Bristol, said they were disappointed to have been rejected by Bristol register office because they are straight but hope that their attempt would help change the law.

Pope says male prostitutes could use condoms as first step in their ‘moralisation’ 27
5:05 PM — Sexual health charities, politicians and gay rights campaigners have welcomed what appears to be a relaxation in Pope Benedict XVI's opposition to the use of condoms. In an interview for a book that is due to be published this week, the Pontiff argued that in some cases, the use of condoms can be the first step in the direction of "moralisation" of an individual.

Rev Sharon Ferguson and her partner Franka Streitzel, the lead gay couple in the Equal Love campaign, were denied permission to marry this morning in Greenwich.
