Ugandan president Museveni ‘opposes death penalty for gays’ 15
3:37 PM — President of Uganda Yoweri Moseveni opposes the death penalty for gays, the country's ethics minister has said. James Nsaba Buturo said the provision was likely to be removed from the country's anti-homosexuality bill, saying that reparative therapy would work better.

Archbishop of York speaks out on Uganda’s anti-homosexuality bill 28
12:32 PM — Archbishop of York John Sentamu, who was born in Uganda, has condemned the country's plans to introduce the death penalty of life imprisonment for gays. Speaking to Radio 4's Today programme this morning, he criticised the "victimising" language in the bill and said the communion was "committed" to listening to the experiences of gay people.

12:06 PM — A far right Christian group has urged fellow Christians to support Uganda's proposed law that would make homosexuality punishable by death. The law would impose the death penalty on those convicted of having gay sex with a minor or disabled person or someone infected with HIV.
