Gay reverend hits back at Scottish Catholic leaders 35
4:18 PM — The openly gay reverend of an Episcopal church in Scotland has hit back at anti-gay Catholic leaders. The Very Reverend Kelvin Holdsworth, Provost of the Episcopal Cathedral Church of St Mary the Virgin, said he was "embarrassed" by the remarks of faith leaders on gay marriage.

Scottish Lib Dem leader attacks bishops for ‘imposing’ gay marriage views 34
3:48 PM — Willie Rennie, the Scottish Liberal Democrat leader, has attacked Catholic bishops for seeking to "impose" their views on gay marriage. Speaking on Saturday to the Scottish Liberal Democrat party conference, he said that Catholic bishops' moves to scupper gay marriage plans were "an affront to liberal democracy".

6:10 PM — Following last night's announcement that the government will introduce legislation to allow gay civil marriage before the end of this parliament, the minister responsible, Lynne Featherstone, said that the current system of gay civil partnerships and straight marriage is “ not only discrimination, but is not fair.”
