Russian deputy Prime Minister: A national “gay propaganda” law should be considered 30
1:04 PM — The Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak has said he is in favour of St Petersburg's pending "gay propaganda" law, and wants it considered at a national level. Kozak said the bill would punish "disgusting activity".

Human rights group claims Iran hanged three men for gay sex 111
2:31 PM — A human rights group has claimed that three Iranian men have been hanged for having gay sex. Iran Human Rights, which says it covers news from the country's official news sources, said state-run Iranian news agency ISNA reported the hangings.

Lithuania to vote on fining people who ‘promote’ homosexuality 24
1:50 PM — The Lithuanian parliament will vote next week on legislation to impose heavy fines on those who "promote" homosexuality. Amnesty International said the law, if passed, would essentially ban Pride marches, gay rights campaigning and LGBT health services.

Amnesty International joins calls for release of gay Malawi couple 4
5:15 PM — Human rights organisation Amnesty International has joined the calls for a gay couple in Malawi to be released from prison. The group said that Steven Monjeza and Tiwonge Chimbalanga, who were arrested on December 28th, were "prisoners of conscience".

Malawi gay marriage trial expected next week 6
4:28 PM — The trial of two gay men arrested for holding a wedding party in Malawi is expected to begin on January 15th. Tiwonge Chimbalanga and Steven Monjeza are being held in custody in Chichiri Prison and were denied bail by a judge yesterday.
