US: FDA approves Truvada for HIV prevention 4
10:17 PM — The US Food and Drug Administration has approved Truvada for use in HIV prevention. The drug has been approved for Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis or PrEP, which is the use of antiretroviral drugs to decrease the likelihood of HIV infection in people with a high risk of contracting it.

China’s first gay pageant to be held this week 3
11:41 AM — Eight contestants will fight to the chance to be crowned Mr Gay China when the country's first gay pageant gets underway this week. China only decriminalised homosexuality in 1997 and it was seen as a mental illness until 2001.

Christian leader supports death penalty for gays 87
12:06 PM — A far right Christian group has urged fellow Christians to support Uganda's proposed law that would make homosexuality punishable by death. The law would impose the death penalty on those convicted of having gay sex with a minor or disabled person or someone infected with HIV.

US Assistant Secretary of State condemns Uganda’s proposed anti-gay laws 4
12:43 AM — The USA's Assistant Secretary of State for African affairs has said that it is urging Ugandan politicians to block a proposed law that would impose life imprisonments of gay people, arguing that it would set back the fight against HIV/ AIDS.

12:40 PM — Uganda's anti-homosexuality bill will be discussed in the country's parliament today. It is thought that this debate will follow a second reading and a vote will be taken in January after a third reading.

10:27 AM — Gay singer Elton John has said he cannot guarantee the Labour Party his vote. Speaking to the Daily Telegraph's Mandrake column at his AIDS Foundation Winter Ball, the star said he did not feel Brown had grasped the "extent" of the rise in HIV infections.
