    11:33 AM — The Department of Health has announced it will remove the lifetime blood donation ban on any man who has ever had gay sex. Instead, there will be a one-year deferral period, meaning that men who have not had gay sex in the last 12 months may donate blood.

    3:58 PM — A study on mice with an HIV-like infection found that boosting their immune systems cured them of the disease. Scientists at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute in Australia said their findings could help develop drugs to help people rid their bodies of infections such as HIV, hepatitis B and C and tuberculosis.
