    4:58 PM — Steven Russell was originally imprisoned for fraud. Four successful, non-violent, love-fuelled prison-escapes later and he has achieved infamy. His life is immortalised in the film 'I Love You Phillip Morris', in which he is portrayed by Jim Carrey. He is currently serving a 144-year sentence in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice facility. Laurence Watts interviewed him by exchange of letters.

    5:40 PM — A major US report says that the unique health needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people should be identified. The Institute of Medicine report says that government-funded health studies should routinely ask people their sexual orientation and gender identity, just as they already ask about race and ethnicity.

    3:56 PM — Gay rights charity Stonewall has launched a survey into gay and bisexual men's health. The organisation says the study will be the largest of its kind in Britain and will cover mental health, diet, fitness, long-term health conditions and illnesses like heart disease and cancer.

    1:14 PM — A man was jailed for six years after he was found guilty of raping a lesbian at a wedding reception. Michael Hughes, 23, invited the victim to see how luxurious his hotel room was but attacked her, the Gloucestershire Echo reports.

    5:29 PM — Brighton MPs Simon Kirby and Caroline Lucas have welcomed the Department of Health's decision to support a cross-party policy document on HIV prevention. The Halve It campaign aims to cut estimated undiagnosed HIV infections in half by 2015.

    5:32 PM — A study of sexually-active American teenagers says that almost one in ten has same-sex partners. In 2002, a similar study of teenagers in Vermont and Massachusetts found that only five to six per cent had same-sex partners.
