11:42 AM — Brighton Pride enjoyed another successful year yesterday with pop stars Paloma Faith and Stooshe wowing the audience in Preston Park and full representation from all the major political parties including local Conservative MP Simon Kirby, who wore a 'Keep Calm and Marry On' t-shirt. Many participants held signs reading 'Brighton Pride Supports LGBT Russia'.

Australian Greens predict legal gay marriage as poll shows majority support 7
2:58 PM — The Australian Green party is predicting that gay marriage will soon become law as a poll shows 57 per cent of the public are in favour of the change. Of the 37 per cent who were against the change, 16 per cent were opposed and 21 per cent were strongly opposed.

12:02 PM — Australian politicians will ask voters whether gay marriage should be legalised after the Green Party won a motion on the issue. A recent poll commissioned by gay groups found 62 per cent of respondents in favour of the change.

Australian Senate rejects gay marriage bill 13
2:57 PM — The Australian Senate today rejected a bill to give equal marriage rights to gay citizens. The bill was introduced by the Greens but was defeated 45-5, just days before the world's biggest gay celebration, Sydney Mardi Gras.
