    2:12 PM — A Tennessee student claims his principal assaulted him for wearing a t-shirt in support of a school gay-straight alliance. Chris Sigler, 17, a student at Sequoyah High School, wore a home-made shirt which read 'GSA: We've got your back' last Tuesday.

    Canadian Catholic school bans rainbows 86

    Rainbows are banned at St Joseph Catholic Secondary School

    2:15 PM — A Canadian Catholic school has banned pupils from using rainbows, the symbol of the gay pride movement. St Joseph Catholic Secondary School in Ontario apparently told students holding a June 3rd anti-homophobia event that they couldn't use the colourful symbol.

    New Mexico school bans all clubs after gay-straight alliance forms 49

    The school board said the timing was a coincidence

    3:11 PM — A school board in New Mexico has voted to ban all school clubs after a gay-straight alliance applied for recognition. Officials on the Clovis school board said the ban was a coincidence but the American Civil Liberties Union questioned the timing.

    9:44 AM — A school in Northern Ireland is the first in the country to form a student gay-straight alliance. Teachers at Shimna Integrated College in Newcastle, County Down, hope the initiative will help tackle anti-gay bullying.

    12:02 PM — A school in Texas has banned all extra-curricular clubs in a move to deny a student's request to form a Gay-Straight Alliance that would bring together lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and straight students. The group was to provide support and promote understanding between students.

    Serbia's first Pride parade since 2001 is planned for 10 October

    3:35 PM — Serbian gay rights groups are in the process of planning a gay Pride Parade in Belgrade next month. It will be the first such parade to take place in nearly a decade.
