Texas judge expected to void marriage of trans widow 19
2:35 PM — A judge in Texas is expected to declare a trans widow's marriage void after her husband's family launched a legal challenge. The ruling will mean that widow Nikki Araguz, who lost her firefighter husband in a blaze, will not be entitled to survivor benefits.

5:41 PM — A Gallup poll has found that 53 per cent of American respondents support giving gay couples the right to marry. This is the first time a Gallup poll has found a majority in favour of marriage equality.

3:37 PM — The governor of Wisconsin has said he wants to stop defending the state's domestic partnership registry for gay couples. Scott Walker, a Republican, told a judge he believes the law is unconstitutional because it mimics marriage.

4:05 PM — The Minnesota Senate has given the go-ahead to a 2012 voter referendum on whether the state should have a constitutional ban on gay marriage. The bill, introduced by Republican senator Warren Limmer, passed by 30-27 votes. One Democrat senator, Leory Stumpf, joined Republicans in voting for it.

Giant card and demonstration call on Prince William and Kate Middleton to support gay marriage 89
6:45 PM — Human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell and the Equal Love campaign have presented Prince William and Kate Middleton a wedding card that calls for their support for gay marriage. The giant card, which was handed into Buckingham Palace by scores of supporters read: "We wish you a happy life together. You can get married, gay people can't."
