Poll: 56 per cent of MPs think equal marriage will become law 110
10:42 PM — A cross-party survey of MPs by ComRes has found that only 56 per cent of them believed that the proposals to include same-sex couples in civil marriages would succeed, which reduced to 41 per cent with Tory MPs. By contrast, more than two-thirds of Labour MPs and almost all of Liberal Democrats were confident that things would go ahead as planned.

Sunday Times disagrees with sister paper The Times over allowing gay couples to marry 46
9:48 PM — The Times made waves last month with a series of editorials backing the Government's plans for the introduction of civil marriage equality. But its sister newspaper The Sunday Times today backed the gay former Labour cabinet minister Ben Bradshaw saying that same sex marriage is "unnecessary".

1:35 PM — Have you heard the news? Coalition for Marriage (C4M) has collected over 400,000 signatures for its petition to keep a restricted and homophobic (yes, homophobic) definition of marriage. Apparently, it is an institution only heterosexuals can and should enjoy. Meanwhile, how is the other camp, the Coalition for Equal Marriage (C4EM) doing? Merely a tenth of that number.

Catholic Cardinal: Church will relax its approach to civil marriages for gay couples (April Fools) 116
12:00 AM — Cardinal Keith Michael Patrick O’Brien is to make a sermon today where he is expected to announce a partial u-turn in the Catholic Church's opposition of civil marriage equality for gay couples. Although the Church will continue to oppose same sex marriages happening within religious institutions, it appears to accept that same sex civil marriages will be a reality regardless of its opposition.
