SNP leader denies ‘going mental’ at Labour MP over gay marriage 8
4:43 PM — SNP leader Alex Salmond has denied going "absolutely mental" at a Labour MP who asked him to comment on the gay marriage controversy. He and Labour MP Thomas Docherty were visiting a Dunfermline school On Wednesday when Mr Docherty claims he asked the First Minister to make a statement on SNP MP Bill Walker's "despicable" comments on gay marriage.
Florida teacher suspended for Facebook anti-gay remarks 69
3:49 PM — A Florida teacher who wrote on Facebook that he "almost threw up" when New York legalised gay marriage has been suspended. Jerry Buell, a social studies teacher at Mount Dora High School, also wrote that gay marriages were a "cesspool" and a "sin".

The 'National Day for Marriage' rally, organised by the Australian Christian Lobby, heard from a number of speakers, including MPs, who claimed that gay marriage is "selfish", will "destroy marriage" and could give rights to paedophiles.

10:54 AM — A Scottish Nationalist Party MP has withdrawn a slur he made comparing gay rights campaigners to Nazis. Bill Walker said an anti-homophobia logo was "threatening" and reminded him of the Nazis.

61 per cent of Scots support gay marriage 83
10:34 AM — A large majority of Scottish people now support marriage equality. According to the 2010 Scottish Social Attitudes Survey, published yesterday, 61 per cent of people believe gays and lesbians should have the right to marry.

Members at the group's annual meeting in Washington voted unanimously on Wednesday to back "full marriage equality for same-sex couples".

Anti-gay group files lawsuit against New York gay marriage 28
6:07 PM — An anti-gay group in New York has filed a lawsuit against the city's new marriage laws. The group, called New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms, claims the state Senate acted illegally when it voted to approve a gay marriage bill earlier this year.

New York holds lottery for first gay marriages 12
10:34 AM — New York City is to hold a lottery to determine which gay couples can be the first to tie the knot when a gay marriage law comes into power on Sunday. Mayor Michael Bloomberg said that demand to wed on the first day gay marriage is legal far outstrips supply and 764 couples, including straight couples, will be permitted to wed on the day.
