3:20 PM — A lesbian MEP for the UK Independence Party has left the group her party joined in the European Parliament. Nikki Sinclaire announced this week that she was leaving the Europe of Freedom and Democracy group.

1:17 PM — Pope Benedict XVI has called gay marriage laws an "attack" on the natural differences between men and women. He was speaking today after Portugal's parliament voted in favour of same-sex marriage.

Portugal votes to legalise gay marriage 30
3:09 PM — Portugal's parliament today voted to legalise marriage for gays and lesbians. The Catholic country will be the sixth in Europe to grant same-sex couples the right to wed, although this will not include adoption rights.

Georgian gay rights group raided by police 3
3:21 PM — The Inclusive Foundation, a gay rights group based in the eastern European country of Georgia, was raided by police earlier this month and its leader arrested. European gay organisation ILGA-Europe said the raid was motivated by homophobia.

Filmstar Tom Cruise sued by alleged gay lover 27
12:04 PM — Hollywood film star Tom Cruise is being sued over allegations of wiretapping. Magazine editor, Michael Davis Sapir, claims that the actor hired private detective, Anthony Pellicano, to wiretap his phone. In 2001 Sapir claimed to have a video in his possession that proved he was having a "homosexual relationship" with the star.
