    11:26 AM — Gay rights campaigners have launched a petition to call for gay marriages and straight civil partnerships in the UK. The Equal Love campaign, led by Peter Tatchell, has already filed a case at the European Court of Human Rights.

    10:38 AM — For the first time, more women than men are having civil partnerships in the UK. According to figures released by the Office for National Statistics, 49 per cent of last year's ceremonies were held by men. In 2009, men held 51 per cent of all civil partnerships.

    1:10 PM — Gay rights campaigners are to hold a rally outside Buckingham Palace on Monday to call for the right to marry. The midday event, organised by Peter Tatchell, will see activists attempt to deliver a wedding card to Kate Middleton and Prince William to ask them to support marriage equality.

    5:28 PM — Gay rights campaigner Peter Tatchell wants Prince William and fiancĂ©e Kate Middleton to support gay marriage. The pair, who are to wed next Friday, "have the option to get married", Mr Tatchell said.

    9:54 PM — The government is expected to announce full marriage equality for gays and lesbians under reforms to marriage laws to be announced later this week. The reported move will end the final major legal discrimination against gays and lesbians in Britain.
