Gay and lesbian troops sue US federal government 15
4:28 PM — A group of married gay and lesbian troops are suing the US federal government for denying them the recognition, benefits and family support granted to heterosexual service members. The lawsuit was filed today in Boston and says the federal government, through the Defence of Marriage Act, violates their constitutional rights.

2:18 PM — A man has been jailed for three years for strangling a stranger with his own scarf during a gay tryst. James Foley, 21, of Dartford, had been at a central London strip club when he slipped away and agreed to go to a garden with a 26-year-old Algerian national Fathi Bouchareb.

Video: Fox News refuses to air gay military ban ad 13
5:38 PM — Fox News has refused to broadcast an advert which calls for the end of Don't Ask, Don't Tell. The ad, by the pro-repeal Palm Center, features Canadian and Australian military leaders saying that lifting their countries' bans on out gay soldiers were a "non-event" and did not harm the military.
