    Men plead guilty to New York anti-gay robbery

    3:53 PM — Two New York men have pleaded guilty to an anti-gay robbery which left their victim in hospital for three weeks. Daniel Rodriguez, 21, and Daniel Aleman, 27, admit robbery as a hate crime for the attack on 49-year-old Jack Price in October last year in the Queens neighbourhood.

    2:51 PM — There were 50,000 reported hate crimes across England, Wales and Northern Ireland last year, new figures show. The vast majority concerned racism but almost 5,000 were motivated by homophobia and more than 300 related to transphobia.

    4:47 PM — An anti-hate crime operation carried out by the Met Police this morning has resulted in 195 arrests. The majority of arrests were connected to domestic violence, although two were related to homophobic offences.

    Gay drinkers in Charing Cross were warned to be on their guard

    1:54 PM — Middle-aged gay men who drink in the Charing Cross area of London have been advised to stay on their guard after a spate of drug-assisted robberies. Lambeth Police say there have been a number of incidents in which older men have been approached by a young man in a Charing Cross bar and subsequently robbed.

    2,000 join London vigil against hate crime 13

    2,000 people attended the event

    12:01 PM — Two thousand people braved the wind and rain to join a London vigil to remember victims of hate crime on Saturday evening. The crowd assembled in Trafalgar Square and heard speeches by equality minister Lynne Featherstone and Stuart Milk, the nephew of murdered US gay rights activist Harvey Milk.

    The vigil begins at 7pm

    3:16 PM — A vigil will be held in London's Trafalgar Square tomorrow to remember victims of hate crime. Speakers will include Stuart Milk, the nephew of murdered gay rights campaigner Harvey Milk, Stephen Brookes MBE, from the Disability Hate Crime network, and deputy Mayor of London Richard Barnes.

    10:08 AM — San Francisco's 40th annual pride celebrations were marred late on Saturday night by a shooting incident in the Castro district which left a 19-year old man dead. Two other people, a man and a woman, were also hit by gunfire but are expected to make a full recovery.

    6:02 PM — Two men have been arrested in connection with the kidnap and sexual assault of a 19-year-old man in west Texas. The victim was reportedly picked up in a bar before the attack took place.
