    12:43 PM — A Bristol Tory councillor who criticised gay actor Ian McKellen’s visits to schools has been suspended by his party. Chris Windows, who represents Henbury ward, has agreed to be "voluntarily suspended", the Conservative Party said.

    2:15 PM — A Christian doctor who claimed she was a victim of religious discrimination has lost her case against Northamptonshire County Council. Dr Sheila Matthews said homosexuality was "not God's will" and that children do better with heterosexual parents.

    12:20 PM — Leading Church of England bishops have claimed that equality laws mean gay rights are being "privileged" over the rights of Christians. The figures, including former Archbishop of Canterbury Lord Carey and Bishop of Winchester Michael Scott-Joynt, said that gay rights supporters are able to "suppress all disagreement or disapproval and 'coerce silence'."

    3:31 PM — One of London's oldest LGBT charities may have to cut its services after being hit with a 21 per cent rent increase. London Friend, founded in 1972, offers counselling and support to lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people and receives little state support.

The Northern Ireland MP broke parliamentary rules by not declaring her interest in the business, despite sitting on the council which awarded the money to Kirk McCambley, it was claimed.

    2:18 PM — A social worker has been found guilty of shouting homophobic abuse at a child in his care. Stan Lansdell, 52, was struck off today for "gross abuse" of his position. He worked for Bradford council at the time of the offences.

    11:41 AM — A man who murdered a gay council officer has had his prison sentenced reduced by two years. David Meehan, who was 19 at the time, admitted murdering James Kerr, 51, in a public park and leaving him for dead while he and his accomplices went to a party.
