    4:35 PM — The only gay bar in Canterbury, a city which was condemned by a local Pride group for not being gay enough, has closed. O2 was opened six months ago on King Street but is closing because of a lack of business.

The London AIDS memorial group was founded on December 1st 2009 by Gary Henshaw and Swarmite Ananda. Its aim is to provide a permanent AIDS memorial where people can gather to remember the ones who 'succumbed, dying bravely, defiantly and with no knowledge of the battle ahead.'

    4:11 PM — A lesbian couple who were refused a joint tenancy in government housing in Gibraltar have won their UK appeal. Three years ago, the Housing Allocation Committee refused to grant the unnamed couple a joint tenancy on the basis that they were unmarried.

    Annise Parker is the mayor-elect of Houston

    11:19 AM — Annise Parker, an out lesbian, has been elected mayor of Houston, Texas. The vote makes the city the largest in the US to elect an openly gay mayor. Parker won against city attorney Gene Locke by 53.6 per cent of the vote.
